Trying to add money to your Cash App debit card?

Recently, I’ve had several people ask me if I know how and where to go to add physical money to a Cash App account without using a bank so I did several hours of research and trial/error to try to find out. This is what I discovered.

In general, the only way to add physical cash to your Cash App account at a store and without a bank account is by purchasing a Green Dot MoneyPak card, loading cash onto it, and then linking that MonkeyPak card to your Cash App account.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised how much misinformation I came across online when trying to research how to properly do this with many claiming you could load cash onto your Cash App account at a cash register in a store (which isn’t true).

So if a Green Dot MoneyPak card works, are there other debit cards that work too?

Currently, Cash App has right around 30 million active monthly users. (1)

With such a huge user base, it’s not surprising that some people would like to use Cash App without needing a bank.
